How long will my repair take?

We aim to complete most repairs within 24-48 hours, but your repair time will depend on what exactly needs repairing or replacing. For example, If your screen needs replacing, we would need to order your exact model number replacement which may take longer

Will I know the Cost of the Repair before work starts?

Yes, you will know all the costs before we go ahead with any repair or do anything. There are no hidden charges or surprises.

My laptop is very old. Is it worth repairing?

If your laptop or computer is really quite old, then it may not be worth repairing. However, we can make sure your data is saved by copying your existing files and transfer them to your new laptop, macbook or computer.

Why is my computer running slow?

There are numerous possible reasons your computer is running slow from simply needing a restart, too many background programs running, anti-virus scan running or indeed being infected with a virus. Minimal hard drive space or a drive with bad sectors or corrupted, to other hardware conflicts, out of date drivers, low memory or excessive heat from the CPU.

What does a blue screen mean?

If your computer or laptop presents you with a blue screen with a large amount of text (in Windows 7, 8. - Windows 10 & 11 has minimal text), followed by restarting, then you have experienced the 'blue screen of death' [BSOD]. In other words your Windows operating system has suffered a critical error and can't recover. This can often be due to hardware or it's driver software and has a high risk of data loss for any unsaved and open data.

If this occurs frequently you need to get your hardware and drivers checked.

My battery doesn't last long, do I need a new laptop?

Not necessarily. If your laptop still does what you need it to do and you don't need to be mobile with it, then that's fine, just use the mains charger unit. You can shop around for a replacement battery to be mobile again, if the costs warrant it, otherwise if you have a budget laptop that has seen better days and the battery price is relatively high then I would go for a new laptop.

What is an SSD Drive & do I need one?

In recent years Solid State Drives have been replacing the standard spinning mechanical hard drive. There are substantial benefits to SSD's including saving time due to huge speed increases, saving space, and especially an increase in overall computing reliability & satisfaction. SSD hard drive upgrades are some of the best upgrades for home users and businesses.

Can I get Lost Files Back?

Most of the time the answer to this is Yes, you can get lost files recovered. As long as it wasn't a long time ago that they were deleted because the chances increase that they could get written over with new data. If you contact us as soon as possible after you lose important files, then chances of data recovery is much higher.

How Do I Permanently Delete My Data from my Hard Drive?

If you are selling your computer, discarding it or passing it on and need to know your old data is permanently deleted to prevent its unauthorised usage, you will need specialised software to run 'multiple deletion passes' on your hard drive.

Can I update my website myself?

Yes, you can absolutely update your own website, yourself. After your website is built and signed off you can either ask me to update your website as and when you need changes. Or you can subscribe to a monthly package which includes an amount of allocated time, or you can update your website yourself.

You will be provided with 2 hours of education / training if you would like it, about editing and updating your WordPress website.

What do you need from me to develop my website?

Initially you will be asked to complete a form with some information about yourself and your business. Following that we will require your content; meaning your images and written copy for your web pages. This includes content for your home and about page, your products and services, company policies, any frequently asked questions for example and any other content you would like included.

Are your websites responsive & mobile friendly?

Yes, all websites built by myself and my colleagues are fully mobile responsive meaning they look as great on tablet and mobile devices as they do on desktop screens

Do I need an SSL for my website?

Yes you will need an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate for your website to help create trust with your website. Furthermore it is a crucial element of SEO with search engines using it as part of their ranking factor for your site.

However, you don't need to be concerned, as a basic SSL will be provided at no extra cost, with your new website.

Why do you use WordPress?

We use WordPress.org (not wordpress.com) because it will work with almost everything, and due to it's popularity worldwide, organisations will ensure their software will work with WordPress. There is also complete control over the design process enabling full customisation plus there are over 45,000 plugins available which means most things can be accomplished, rather than building every feature from scratch, which would work out very expensive.

Search engines love WordPress websites and they seem to rank better than other platforms due to it's multiple SEO features.

How many email accounts can I have?

You can have as many email accounts as you like.

Are your websites SEO optimised for search engines?

Yes your website will be search engine optimised for on page factors as we build and add your content, using best practices. There are more SEO options available especially for longer term search engine ranking, including off page SEO which we can discuss at any time.

Can you provide images for my website?

Most clients provide us their own images of their business and related services or products however we can provide generic creative commons images for you if required

Can you help me with text content for my website?

Often, clients provide their copy, because the ideal person to know your business inside out is you. Your text about your business, product & services descriptions and sales copy would be highly accurate and tailored to your ideal market.

We can, however, provide a copywriting service to you, either enhancing your own copy or to have fresh text provided by professional copywriters, utilising relevant research.
